Natalie Fraioli's career afternoon paced Suffolk women's basketball to a 66-47 victory over Saint Mary's (Maryland) Dec. 30 to conclude action at the Naples Shootout at the Community School of Naples.
After going 1-1 at the Naples Shootout, Suffolk enters second semester 9-4 overall and 1-0 in conference contests. The Rams return to the league portion of its schedule after taking down Saint Joseph (Conn.), 57-45, in its GNAC opener Dec. 1.
Jenni-Rose DiCecco is the lone player hitting the double digit mark in points per game with the sophomore providing 16.9 ppg to Suffolk's 64.7 ppg offense. Alexis Hackett and Jordan Hipwell are on the verge of double figures with the sophomores averaging 9.8 ppg and 9.2 ppg, respectively.
On the glass Hackett's 11.2 rpg lead the way for the Rams, who pull down 41.2 rpg as a team. DiCecco (6.0 rpg) and Hipwell (5.2 rpg) also are consistent contributors to the effort on the boards.
Rivier has only found the win column once this season, defeating Lesley 78-57, Nov. 29. The Raiders, who sit 1-8 overall and 0-0 in the GNAC, are back in action after taking a month off for finals and the holidays.
Kaylee Kacavas and Megan Hamel are Rivier's top threats both offensively and defensively. Kacavas puts up the most ppg in the conference at a 25.9 ppg clip on a 44.7 percent connection rate from the floor and a 76.3 percentage from the foul line. The senior guard adds 6.4 rpg, 22.2 apg and 1.7 spg to her statline. Hamel, meanwhile, averages a double-double effort of 10.8 ppg and a team-best 10.1 rpg.
