The Suffolk women's basketball team began its second half of its schedule with a 78-63 victory over Rivier Jan. 8 at Regan Gymnasium.

Suffolk has seen little action in the New Year with just one-game following the holiday to prep for Norwich and put the Rams at 10-4 overall and 2-0 in league outings.
Jenni-Rose DiCecco and Alexis Hackett continue to provide a one-touch punch on both sides of the ball. DiCecco leads the way in every category for Suffolk except rebounds, where Hackett sits atop the list. The sophomore floor general averages 17.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.3 apg and 2.4 spg. Hackett, meanwhile, produces 11.4 rpg, 10.4 ppg, 3.4 apg, 2.5 bpg and 1.2 spg.
As a team, the Rams record 65.6 ppg on a 40.5 percent connection rate from the floor. Defensively, Suffolk is being outrebounded by its opponents despite grabbing 41.2 rpg.
Norwich lost its second straight Tuesday night with a 65-50 setback to Bates to dip to 6-9 on the season. In conference contests, the Cadets are 1-2 with its lone league win coming over Simmons, 69-54, Jan. 10.
Mary Casamassa and Emily Oliver provide a one-two punch for Norwich on each side of the ball. Casamassa is the team's leader in points with 12.9 ppg, while Oliver sits second 11.9 ppg. The freshman and senior reverse roles when it comes to rebounding with Olivier's 6.5 rpg pacing the back and Casamassa's 6.3 rpg good for second on the squad.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk returned to the win column against Norwich last season with a 56-48 decision over the Cadets to improve to 21-9 in the all-time series.
Suffolk is back in the friendly confines of Regan Gymnasium this weekend as it entertains Johnson & Wales in a Saturday, Jan. 18 showdown at 1 p.m.
