Endicott Overpowers Women’s Basketball, 75-60

BEVERLY, Mass. – A 26-point performance by Allison Bono would not be enough as Suffolk women's basketball dropped a 75-60 Conference of New England (CNE) contest to Endicott Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 60 | Endicott 75
RECORDS: Suffolk (8-8, 2-5 CNE) | Endicott (9-7, 5-2 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Out of a 4-all score, the Gulls flew off on a 7-0 run to put the Rams in an 11-4 hole at the 2:41 mark of first quarter. Suffolk responded with four quick points to slice the gap down to 11-8. A three-point gap, 14-11, remained at the end of the first 10 minutes after the foes traded hoops.
  • Endicott controlled the first 5:15 of the second stanza to put the blue-and-gold in a 12-point hole, 25-13. Hoops were exchanged over the next minute before the Gulls sealed the quarter on a 6-2 stretch that sent Suffolk into the break chasing 15, 34-19.
  • A hoop-for-hoop third quartet kept it a double-digit distance in the Gulls' favor, 53-37, with 30 minutes in the books.
  • The ground proved too large for Suffolk to make up as its offensive output was limited to just freebies in the opening minutes of the fourth, which allowed Endicott to lock up the conference victory, 75-60.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Bono powered Suffolk's scoring with 26 points behind a 10-for-15 showing from the floor and unblemished performance at the free throw line, 6-for-6. The junior guard added eight boards and two steals.
