BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball dropped a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup to Hartford, 56-42, on Tuesday evening at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After seven minutes of back-and-forth action, Hartford closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 17-8.
  • The two sides went point-for-point in the second quarter until Claire Berkowitz provided five straight to help Suffolk end the half on a 7-2 to spurt to cut the deficit to six, 24-19, at the break.
  • Suffolk faced its largest deficit of the night at 39-27 with 3:57, but an 8-0 Rams' rally, which included consecutive lay-ins from Tatiana Tune, shortened the deficit to four. A late three-pointer from Taryn Blevins pushed the Hawks' advantage back to seven at 42-35 heading into the final frame.
  • The Rams battled back to within six at 46-40 after an Allison Bono layup with 6:05 left in the fourth. The Hawks then held the home side scoreless for the next 5:48 to secure a 54-42 victory.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Bono and Berkowitz each contributed ten points. The former pitched in six boards, three steals, two assists and one block, while the latter shot 4-for-9 on the night and grabbed two caroms. 
  • Delaney More provided eight points and five boards.
