NCAA READY: Women’s Golf Set for 2026 National Championship

BOSTON – For the second time in program history and in three years, Suffolk women's golf will tee off the at the NCAA Division III Championships as the Rams jet set to Palm Desert, California, for nationals, which will be held at Desert Willow Golf Resort, May 19-22.  

The Rams earned the program's second-ever berth to the national stage by capturing the inaugural Conference of New England (CNE) Championship Oct. 11-12, 2025 en route to the league's automatic bid.

NCAAs

  • The tournament will follow both a team and individual competition, which will be conducted concurrently
  • Following 36 holes (two days) of competition, the team field of 34 teams and six individuals will be cut down to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of the teams that made the cut
  • Following the cut, the remaining 15 teams and six individuals will compete for another 36 holes (two days) of action. 
  • In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team's total score 

THE FIELD

  • 26 conferences were awarded an automatic qualification. Suffolk earned one of the AQs of the 2026 NCAA Championship field by capturing the CNE Championship Oct. 11-12, 2025
  • In addition to the AQ Teams, eight teams earned at-large bids 
  • Six individuals, not from selected teams, also were selected to the championship

TEE TIME
Action starts tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19 at 1 p.m. EST (10 a.m. PST) with the Rams set to start on the back-nine of the course on hole 10.  

THE COURSE
Desert Willow is Palm Desert, California's premier golf destination that was recently enhanced with new Mini Verde Bermudagrass greens, reshaped and leveled tee boxes and refreshed fairways.  

Firecliff, particularly, was designed to inspire strategy over lush fairways, natural desert landscapes and over 100 strategically placed bunkers that test skills. The par-72 course, stretches 7,056 yards across 18 visually and challenging holes showcasing dramatic desert terrain, native flora and shimmering water features.

HOW'D THE RAMS GET HERE?

  • Suffolk captured the first-ever CNE Championship Oct. 11-12
  • The Rams compiled a two-day score of 695 at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor, Connecticut, 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Hartford (711)
  • Sophomore Krisna Mahendran finished in a three-way tie for first place after a 36-hole card of 164 (+24) but slipped to second in a hole-by-hole playoff, which determined individual medalist. 
  • Brooke Bugajewski was two strokes off the podium in fourth, while Emory Goodson finished with a 173. 
  • The triad of Mahendran, Bugajewski and Goodson all took home All-CNE distinction. Bugajewski and Mahendran represented the Rams on the first team, while Goodson earned a spot on the second team.
