EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's lacrosse closed the book on its inaugural season Wednesday night with a 21-16 Conference of New England setback to Hartford at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Goals were exchanged in less than a minute span early in the first. Jessie Le put the Rams on the board with help from Zoe Peckham after the Hawks opened the scoring at the 12:45 mark.
Two quick strikes by Hartford over 25 seconds gave the visitors a 3-1 edge, but Ally Colburn answered for Suffolk 55 seconds later to trim the gap back to one, 3-2.
The back-and-forth affair continued as the Hawks regained a two-goal advantage 53 seconds after that.
Suffolk commanded the final three minutes of the opening stanza as it poured in three answered to jump in front, 5-4. Colburn, Julia Dickinson and Le logged one goal apiece in that go-ahead stretch. Dickinson's marker was a man-up goal.
Both teams found the back of the net five teams in the second stanza that featured three tied scores and two lead exchanges to send Suffolk into halftime up, 10-9.
The Rams held onto the lead over the first five minutes, 13-12, before the Hawks flew in front, 16-13, thanks to four consecutive goals.
Hartford remained in front the rest of the way as it outscored the blue-and-gold 5-3 in the fourth quarter.

- Colburn had her 15th hat trick of the season.
