LA CROSSE, Wis. – Sofia Moukaddem of the Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team solidified her spot in the Rams record books as the junior long-distance runner compiled a First-Team All-American finish in the 10,000 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
Moukaddem, the third-ever Suffolk female student-athlete to make the outdoor national field, became the first to capture All-American distinction as well as she put together an eighth-place performance in the 10,000. The Weston, Massachusetts product burst out of the gates held fourth place after the first 1600. In the second leg, she slipped to seventh where she remained until the 7600 marker, where she fell to eighth. From there she dropped down to ninth, but picked up the pace over the final 800 meters to regain the final spot in the top-8 with a personal-best of 34:53.78 en route to a First-Team All-America recognition.
Earlier this year, Moukaddem collected All-America Second-Team status in the indoor 5000. With her second All-America nod, she is the fourth-ever Ram to own multiple All-American achievements on her resume, first since baseball's Harry Painter received back-to-back accolades 2023-24. On the track, meanwhile, she is the first female with numerous All-American honors to her name and second-ever in Suffolk's cross country/track & field program's history joining Matyas Csiki-Fejer, who earned the feat in cross country and outdoors (5,000) in 2021-22.
The award caps off a record-setting junior campaign for Moukaddem. This year alone she completed the trifecta, making and competing at all three NCAA Championships – cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field. In the fall she anchored the Rams to their fifth consecutive Conference of New England (CNE) Championship and the CNE Runner of the Year aided the program's first-ever team berth to the national championship.
