Women’s Volleyball’s Win Streak to be Tested Wednesday Against No. 17 JWU

BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball puts its undefeated GNAC record and five-match win streak on the line Wednesday, Oct. 9 as No. 17 Johnson & Wales comes to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a conference clash. First serve between the unbeaten league foes is set for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball did what no team has done before, bested Colby Sawyer, to run its win streak to five straight. The 3-1 victory came Saturday afternoon when the Rams wrapped up a GNAC tri-match at the Hogan Sports Center via set scores 25-13, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-15.

RAMS REVIEW
On its longest win streak since 2005, Suffolk rolls into the midweek meeting with an overall record of 14-5 along with a perfect 5-0 GNAC record. 

Hannah Fabiano's 2.95 kps leads the offense that puts together 10.43 kps. Kayla Barbera and Sarah Mullahy are also potent in attack with 1.95 kps and 1.85 kps, respectively.Harmony Johnson has handled setting responsibilities for the Rams, handing out 8.0 aps. 

On defense, Kenzley Bell's 3.93 dps paces Suffolk the Rams, while Dakhensey Marcellus falls just behind with 3.43 kps. Stephanie Rheaume stands tall at the net with 0.52 bps for the Rams. 

WILDCAT WAY
Johnson & Wales, who is ranked No. 17 in the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll, is on a win streak of its own with three consecutive victories for a 14-3 overall mark and 4-0 league ledger. 

As a whole, the Wildcats post 13.21 kps, which ranks in the top-25 of Division III this season. Maria Coniglio (3.37 kps) and Kate Walker (3.19 kps) are the main contributors to the attack averaging well over 3.00 kps each. Brylee Frank is one of DIII's stop setters with 10.13 aps to her credit. Defensively Elyssa Nicholas' 5.18 leads the way with Walker adding an impressive 0.82 bps to the effort. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

• The Rams have yet to take down the Wildcats as the blue-and-gold trails the all-time series, 0-19. 
• JWU has swept Suffolk 16 times with one match going five sets and two being decided in 3-1 decisions. 
• The last meeting between the two came in the 2018 GNAC semifinals, where the Wildcats held out for a 3-0 victory, with set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-13.

EYES ON THE MATCH

RECOGNITION ROOKIE
For the second straight week and third time this season, Harmony Johnson of the Suffolk volleyball team was recognized as GNAC Rookie of the Week for her 9.36 assists, 0.55 aces and 1.82 digs per set work in a 3-0 week for the Rams, league office announced yesterday.
