BOSTON – Suffolk baseball takes its talents on the road for the first round of the 2025 Conference of New England Tournament that sends the fifth-seeded Rams to fourth seed Western New England Wednesday, May 7 for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.

SUFFOLK IN THE CNE TOURNAMENT

  • The Rams will start their fifth trip and fifth in as many season in the CNE Tournament. 
  • Suffolk is competing as the fifth seed in the CNE Tournament or any league postseason tournament, for the first time. 
  • Suffolk is 4-8 in the CNE postseason.

LAST TIME OUT
Nine Hawks' unanswered runs early on proved to be the difference in game two of a Conference of New England double feature that Suffolk loss to Hartford, 10-6, at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is 14-23 on the year after splitting traded wines and loses over the last six games in the regular season.  

The Rams' bats have been well-balanced this year with the foursome of Max Martin (38 H, 29 RBI, 25 R), Chris Cimino (37 H, 21 RBI, 18 R), Sam Armbruster (36 H, 21 RBI, 15 R) and Max Iorio (36 H, 28 RBI, 24 R) all with 30-plus hits and 20-plus RBI to their credit. Colin Flynn, meanwhile, has a team-high 39 hits to go along with 10 RBI, 20 runs scored and 13 stolen bases. Cole Hilliard has been in the offensive conversation as well with 34 hits, 13 RBI and 22 runs scored.  

On the hill, all of Suffolk's starters – Pierce Salbego (61.2 IP, 3.36 ERA, 47 K), TJ Dimitriou (47.1 IP, 5.51 ERA, 30 K), Nick Arnett (33.1 IP, 8.10 ERA, 19 K), Harry Meehan (32.0 IP, 5.63 ERA, 17 K), Colin McNeal (12.1 IP, 5.84 ERA, 3 K), Nolan Drew (16.0 IP, 9.00 ERA, 10 K), John McDevitt (20.2 IP, 6.10 ERA, 13 K) and Nick Rubin (8.0 IP, 6K) are all options. Jack Raimo (26.0 IP, 3.12 ERA, 10 K) will be utilized out of the pen.  

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England snapped a four-game skid with a 6-5, game two win at Roger Williams Saturday to end the regular season in the win column and bring a 21-18 overall record to the tournament.  

Offensively, Jack Loftus (53 H, 35 RBI, 35 R), John Bova (48 H, 24 RBI, 32 R) and Ryan Montini (51 H, 33 RBI, 33 R) anchor the Golden Bears' 381-hit, 252-run effort. 

Like Suffolk, WNE will likely have all its starters ready to go in Jacob Hobart (40.2 IP, 8.63 ERA, 20 K), Connor Flynn (16.1 IP, 6.61 ERA, 14 K), Greg Nivison (21.0 IP, 3.86 ERA, 14 K), Jared Kuryan (54.0 IP, 4.33 ERA, 44 K), and Matt Lauria (60.2 IP, 2.37 ERA, 70 K).  

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk and Western New England splits its regular season doubleheader April 27. The Rams won game one, 10-5, and fell in the nightcap, 5-3.
