After a stellar opening day of competition that saw the Rams put together back-to-back wins, Suffolk softball freshman Jill Pulek has been named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The Suffolk softball team continued its solid play at the Gene Cusic Classic, holding off Edgewood, 4-3, and sweeping Wooster, 8-0, in five innings, in its second day of action on its spring break trip. With the sweep, Suffolk improves its record to 4-0 on the young season.
The Suffolk softball team got the jump start to its season that it was looking for, capturing wins in its first two games of the season at the Gene Cusic Classic Sunday morning. Suffolk opened its season with an 8-4 win over Kenyon and followed with a 7-1 triumph over Brockport in the second game of the day.
The Boston Red Sox aren’t the only local team warming up the 2016 campaign in Ft. Myers, Florida this month as Suffolk softball landed in the Sunshine State Thursday to compete in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic through Friday, March 18.
