In the opening game of the 23rd Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament, the Suffolk men’s hockey team went down to the wire against its Bay State rival UMass Dartmouth, but the Corsairs outdid the Rams, 5-4, Saturday afternoon at the Ice Den.
Suffolk gained a 1-0 advantage in the first thanks to a score by Justin Holliday. The team’s traded power play goes in the second before David Lappin put away his first collegiate goal, also with a man-up to give the Rams a two-goal edge on again headed into the second intermission.
Thursday, Nov. 3 will be a historic day for Suffolk men’s hockey as the Rams raise the curtain on its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) era in their home opener versus Becker. Puck drop of Suffolk’s first-ever CCC contest is slated for 7 p.m. at Emmons Horrigan O’Neil Memorial Rink in Charlestown.
