Matt Pepdjonovic, Sets GNAC Rebound Record

Suffolk University Men's Basketball senior Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) continued his milestone career becoming the all-time career leader in rebounds for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) during the Rams' 78-65 victory over Mount Ida College Mustangs on Tuesday evening.

Pepdjonovic recorded his 56th career double-double Tuesday night scoring 16 points and collecting 19 rebounds as he surpassed the 1,192 career total of Albertus Magnus College's Raymond Askew ('12) to become the league's top rebounder.

In 99 career games Pepdjonovic now has 1,208 career boards. He entered Tuesday's contest needing four to surpass the mark and reached it six minutes into the game with an offensive rebound. In fitting fashion Pepdjonovic scored a layup on the play. He already holds the GNAC's record for rebounds within conference games with a career total of 856.

Pepdjonovic already also holds Suffolk's all-time career rebound record, a mark he set on November 20 of this season passing Christos Tsiotos' ('77) total of 1,015. The pair are the only two players in Suffolk's 65-year program history to score at least 1,000 career points while also collecting 1,000 career rebounds. Pepdjonovic is one of three GNAC players to reach the grand total in both categories during a career, Askew and Rivier University's Jeff Carpenter '08 are the others.

The 6'6 senior forward set the league's career mark earlier this year on January 21 for blocked shots (previously 209) as he now has 231 through Tuesday.

He is currently ranked eighth in Suffolk's program history with 1,419 career points, while his 585 field-goals made ranked seventh among all-time Rams scorers.

Pepdjonovic has been a force among NCAA Division-III Men's Basketball players in his first three seasons. He was named GNAC Rookie of the Year for the 2009-10 season as finished the year ranking 10th among all players with an 11.6 rebounds per game average. As a sophomore he ranked third nationally with a 13.3 rebounds per game average earning first team All-Conference GNAC honors. He had his best season statistically as junior as he ranked second in the nation in double-doubles recording 21 in 25 games averaging 17 points per game, and held Division-III's second highest average in rebounds with 13.6 per game.

In four seasons Pepdjonovic holds averages of 14.3 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game.

Through Tuesday night, Pepdjonovic is averaging 9.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds in 23 games on the season.
