Athletics Announces Director of Athletics Honor Roll

The Suffolk University Department of Athletics unveiled their Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the spring semester of 2013.

A total of 193 student-athletes represented Suffolk University among 13 varsity sports teams during the 2012-13 academic calendar as 120 of those received a 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the spring semester.

 “We are most pleased with our student-athletes continued success and commitment both academically and athletically” says Director of Athletics, James Nelson. “We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication both on and off the athletic fields and in the classroom as they represent Suffolk University and the Rams in such a highly positive manner.”

Highlighting the list was Women’s Basketball senior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) who was also named with the department’s Charles Law Student-Athlete of the Year Award. The award is given to a student-athlete annually who exhibits excellence in both academics and athletics. Vienneau wrapped up a four-year career for Suffolk where she rewrote the record books becoming the first player in school history to reach milestones in three categories: 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds and set the program record with 455 assists. She received her degree in May from Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School as an Entrepreneurship major.

Both senior Ben Rollins (Lee, N.H.) of Men’s Soccer and junior Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) also made the list as the duo were named to the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA)/Capital One Academic All-District® teams in their respective sports.

Junior Jack Sullivan (Hamilton, N.Y.) of the Baseball team was recognized as he also earned recognition from Suffolk University with the Environmental Science Award from the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. Sullivan maintains a 3.825 GPA as an Environmental Science major. Those honored include 10 student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the spring semester. Baseball had a pair of freshmen record perfect grades through their spring season in Alex Gabler (Uniontown, Pa.) and Rob Marks (Revere, Mass.). Hockey also had a pair as senior captain Dan Feyock (Johnston, Pa.) and sophomore Brett Roman (Rock Tavern, N.Y.) recorded 4.0 scores. Senior Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) and freshmanMegan Murphy (South Windsor, Conn.) of the Women’s Basketball team each achieved a perfect 4.0 gpa for the semester, while freshman Katie Brunelle (Peabody, Mass.) of Women’s Soccer, sophomore Erica Leblanc (Londonderry, N.H.) of Women’s Tennis, freshmanCaitlyn Mockler (Manchester, Conn.) of Volleyball and senior Eric Doldt (Dedham, Mass.) of Golf were also perfect. Brunnelle, Mockler and Murphy have all recorded 4.0’s in each of their first two freshman semesters at Suffolk.

Among their respective conferences, 51 student-athletes will represent Suffolk University on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference team. To be eligible a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.25 grade-point average, have played a full season of a varsity sports and be in sophomore standing or above.
