Four Suffolk University student-athletes were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor for the Week of October 4th.
Women’s Soccer had two players named after picking up two more conference wins on the week. Freshman Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, N.Y.) earned recognition for the third week in a row. Miranda netted four more goals in both of Suffolk's games this week as she has extended her goal scoring streak to seven games. In that span, Miranda has score multiple goals in a game six times. Miranda had two goals in Suffolk's 4-1 win over Rivier on Tuesday and netted a pair in Saturday's 5-0 win over Mount Ida. Miranda was previously named GNAC Rookie of the Week the previous two weeks. Freshman Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Penn.) scored two goals in the Rams 4-0 win over Rivier College on Tuesday and then scored one and set up three Suffolk goals in a 5-0 win over Mount Ida College on Saturday to finish the week with 3 goals, 3 assists for 9 points.Balestrier was previously named GNAC Player of the Week on September 18th and also earned New England honors by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as she was named ECAC Player of the Week.
Men’s Soccer senior goalkeeper Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) made 12 saves in a 0-0 tie against Lasell College on Saturday. DeJesus was named GNAC Goakeeper of the Week on September 25.
Freshman Jane Skorobogatova (Novosibirsk, Russia) was 3-0 for the Rams this week in singles play. Skorobogatova was Suffolk's lone winner at the three poisiton in Tuesday's loss to Simmons by straight 6-0 sets. The freshman also won both her matches this week at the number on singles position for Suffolk.
