Soccer Teams Honored by Suffolk University

On Tuesday December 7, the Suffolk University Men's and Women's Soccer team had a luncheon in their honor celebrating their success during the 2010 seasons. The awards luncheon was hosted by acting Suffolk University President and Provost Barry Brown and Vice President for Student Affairs Nancy Stoll.

During the 2010 season, the men's team earned their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division-III Men's Soccer National Tournament. The Rams gained a berth into the 60-team field by capturing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship with a 2-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College on November 6. Suffolk finished the 2010 season with an 11-8-1 overall record.

The women's team also earned their first ever post-season appearance as the Rams finished the 2010 with the GNAC's top record at 10-2 in league play, while finishing the season with a 13-4-1 overall record. The Rams made their first appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Women's Soccer Tournament this past season, in the program's fourth year of existence.

Members of both teams were presented their All-Conference award certificates from the GNAC by Provost Brown at Tuesday's event.
