Boston, MA - Suffolk University Softball seniors Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, MA) and Marie Trainor (Winthrop, MA) were both recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as they were selection to the All-Northeast Region Softball Team.
Shortstop Jess Ferreira was named a first team selection. Ferreira was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year for the third consecutive season in 2009. Ferreira finished the season hitting .484 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI and a slugging percentage of .951.
Outfielder Marie Trainor was named a third team selection. On the season Trainor hit .397 with five home runs, 26 RBI to go along with 50 hits on the season. Trainor was also a first team All-Conference selection by the GNAC. In her three seasons with Suffolk, Trainor has hit .359 with eight career home runs, 59 RBI, 21 doubles and 38 stolen bases. This season Trainor had 14-multi hit games for the Rams.
The Rams finished the season with a 22-18 record.
