The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released the 2015 All-Conference teams on Monday afternoon. Four Suffolk University players were recognized by the GNAC, including three members who were first-team All-Conference selection.
Freshman Delaney Sylvester (Worcester, Mass.) was a first-team selection at catcher. Sylvester has a .431 average (50-for-116) on the season which includes a team best 16 extra base hits and 37 RBI. Sylvester had multi-hit games in 18 of the 36 in which she has played in during the 2015 season. She was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week on April 13. Sylvester hit .476 (10-21) with a .478 OBP, .810 slugging percentage, nine RBI and six runs scored over that six game stretch. Sylvester had multi-hit games in four of the six contests, including a 3-for-4 performance in their win over the University of Saint Joseph. Sylvester also led the team with four home runs on the year.
Sophomore Kristen Young (Windsor, Conn.) was a first-team selection as an infielder. Young has a team-high 53 hits on the year and a team leading .434 batting average (53-for-122). She is tied for third among all GNAC players in hits and average. Young leads all players in the GNAC with 36 stolen bases, as she is perfect on the year with 36 attempts. She is currently fourth among all NCAA Division-III players with a stolen base per game average.
Freshman Devlin Frost (Tewksbury, Mass.) was a first-team selection as an outfielder. Frost had a solid first year season with a .355 average (39-for-110), five doubles, a team-high four triples and three home runs. Frost was named the ECAC Division III New England Rookie of the Week on April 6. She finished that week hitting at a .556 clip as she was 10-for-18 in six games. Frost hit a pair of home runs on as Suffolk swept Rivier University. In Wednesday's doubleheader sweep she was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 13-5 game one Suffolk victory. Frost finished the next day's doubleheader going 5-for-7 with six RBI in the two games combined. She was 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and three RBI in game two. Frost rounded out the week with a 3-for-5 effort in a doubleheader sweep over Lasell College. Frost also drove in three runs as Suffolk swept the Lasers.
Senior Nicole Rosa (Wallingford, Conn.) was third team selection as an infielder. Rosa hit at a .358 clip on the season (43-for-120). She drove in 21 runs on the year with a pair of triples. Rosa is rounding out a four year with a .361 average as she has collected 187 career hits. She has 26 doubles and four triples to go along with 77 RBI.
Senior Sarah Chasse (Salem, Mass.) was named to the GNAC Sportsmanship team. Chasse was 9-5 this season on the mound with a team-high 89 1/3 innings pitched. She struck out 48 hitters to go along with a team-high nine complete games. Chasse has won 36 games over a four year career while collecting 401 strikeouts in 474 innings pitched. She also holds .337 career batting average.
Suffolk finished the GNAC regular season with a league best 17-5 conference record. They were eliminated by four-time defending league champion St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday by a 4-0 score.
Suffolk is currently 24-12 on the year. They will play Brandeis University in a non-league doubleheader on Wednesday. Suffolk has also declared for the 2015 ECAC Division III New England Championship. That field will be released on Monday May 4 as the tournament will be the following Wednesday.
