Lasell Tops Women's Soccer 4-1

Freshman Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) scored three times to lead the Lasell College Lasers (4-2, 4-0 GNAC) to a 4-1 victory over the Suffolk University Rams (2-4, 0-3 GNAC) on Tuesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Lynch opened the scoring in the game's fifth minute as she knocked in a loose ball past the Suffolk defense that was scrambling to recover.

Suffolk would get on the board and even the score up in the second half as sophomore Meghan McHale (Halifax, Mass.) drove in a free kick after a Lasers' penalty from 15 yards out for her second score of the season.

Lasell would answer right back however scoring three unanswered goals in the final twenty minutes of the contest to improve to a perfect 3-0 on the season in league play.

Sophomore Jamie Harris (Lynnfield, Mass.) score what would be the game-winning goal as she converted a feed from sophomore Jamie Osterberg (Monroe, Conn.) in the game's seventieth minute.

Lynch would strike for her second goal of the game seven minutes later as she put him a rebound off of a Harris shot in front of the Suffolk net.

Lynch scored again seven minutes later completing the hat trick as she took a cross pass from Harris in front of the Rams goal to seal the Lasers' victory.

Freshman Melissa Brouilette (Shelton, Conn.) was solid in goal for the Rams in the losing effort as she turned aside 14 Lasers shots.

Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, Mass.) made five saves in the victory for Lasell College.

Lasell controlled much of the pace in the game offensively as they held a 22-6 advantage in shots throughout the contest, including a 16-5 edge in the second half.

Lasell will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they take on Brandeis University in a non-conference makeup from September 7. Suffolk will take on Emmanuel College in GNAC action at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon.
