Women's Tennis Splits GNAC Weekend

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team (6-4, 4-2 GNAC) split two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches as they defeated Albertus Magnus College 9-0 on Saturday, before falling to Emmanuel College 5-4 on Sunday.

Sophomore Lauren Cameron (Kingston, Jamaica) rolled through a perfect weekend picking up two more singles victories and two more wins in doubles. Cameron was victorious on Saturday in the one position for the Rams defeating Amanda Maurer, 6-0, 6-0. Cameron was also a winner in Sunday's match winning 6-1, 6-1 over the Saints Megan Harrington. Cameron and her doubles partner, junior Alexandra Hernandez-Vallant (Newton, MA) paired up for two wins on the weekend.

Kelly Conrad, Rebecca Copeland, Thuy Le, Brianna Koch, and Caroline Thorpe all picked up wins in singles play on Saturday in the Rams shutout. Chloe Oldfather and Celia Contreras partnered up for a win in the second doubles spot, while Brianna Koch and Thuy Le picked up the Rams third doubles win on the day.

Contreras was the only Rams to win in singles play besides Cameron in Sunday's match as she defeated Alexandra Shakra 6-1 in a tiebreaker in the fifth position.  Koch and Oldfather picked up the Rams other point as they were victorious in the third doubles position 8-5. The Rams had a 2-1 edge in doubles play, but the Saints 4-2 margin in singles play turned out to be the difference.
