The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its 2016-17 Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athletes with 12 Suffolk players on the list, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Rams force a winner take all contest versus the Wildcats.
The third-seeded Suffolk pulled within one of the tournament’s top seed Johnson & Wales in the bottom of the fourth, but the Wildcats scattered nine runs over the final two innings and held the Rams to capture the 2017 GNAC Softball title, 15-5, Sunday afternoon at Scotts Miracle-Grow Complex.

The Suffolk softball team’s quest to GNAC glory begins Thursday, May 4 as the third-seeded Rams head to Standish, Maine, for a 3 p.m. second-round matchup versus sixth-seeded Norwich. The winner of the contest advances in the winner bracket and will face second-seeded St. Joseph’s Maine at 5:30 p.m.
